What is living simply?

  • Living simply is not so much about the particulars of our lives as much as it is about the principles that govern them. Knowing what God has called you to do, and then doing it--that's living simply.

You can also mix Baking Soda with Cetaphil and use that as a daily scrub.....it really exfoliates well and the baking soda granuals keep their texture......

The dermatologist recommeneded it and it works great...especially on 12 year old skin....

Good Morning Joanne...just catching up on the Heim blogs this AM. I have a running WORD docuement of home made gifts that don't require craftyness...which I don't opposes as a gift. I added your mocha recipe to it also. I guess you could double the sugar and cut the salt for your face. Choose a lotion that is good for the face.

Body Scrub

1/2c sugar
1/4c salt
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp water
1 tsp scented lotion

My friend made me some for a gift. Got a cute container from Hobby Lobby and called it Girly Girl on a tag w/ a ribbon.

Sounds like good stuff. I'll have to try it.

Great skin care ideas. Might even work for a 12 year old boy whose face needs a good scrubbin'. I hear they exist, anyway...

Thank you for the link to this website, Joanne! I've been using a solution of 1 cup white vinegar to 1 quart water for our laminate floors for the past several months, and I really like the way that it cleans. It does just as good a job as the expensive special laminate cleaners I used to buy from Home Depot, and it makes me feel good to know exactly what's in this cleaning solution.

Another option for acne (a two time accutane graduate can vouch for) plain ole' Dial soap. Yep, with some form of exfoliant (be it sugar, salt, baking soda or a buff puff). The Dial is antibacterial and the exfoliation removes the build up. I kid you not people compliment my skin now...and NEVER did with the super expensive stuff!! Good luck!

Love the sugar idea - and the cute jar. I will have to try it out on my daughter, who is just beginning to have a few outbreaks herself.
