Confession: I haven't learned all of Luke 1:46-55 this week. (What a week! I think I'm finally caught up on my sleep and feeling like myself again.) But I have learned some of it. So here's what I know for now, and I'll know the whole thing by next Monday. I promise!
And Mary said:
"My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me--holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation."
My favorite part?
I love that Mary calls God "the Mighty One." (Have you heard this song? I'm so gonna sing like her when I get to heaven!) And I want these words to describe me--"From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me--holy is his name."
Because you know what? The Mighty One HAS done great things for me.
Some of you know that Toben is bipolar, and the couple of years when he was diagnosed and despaired of life, I didn't think we would make it. I didn't think I would make it. Every single day hurt.
But God led us through and made "a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland" as it says in Isaiah 43:18-19. And here we are today. Not perfect by any means. But healed and whole and a family.
Holy is his name!
